fish species and bait choice
At Loppa Sea Fishing in Lopphavet, you'll encounter a highly diverse sea fishing experience. The main species is halibut, but you'll also find spawning cod, summer cod, coalfish, large redfish, plaice, wolfish, as well as species like monkfish, ling, pollack, and haddock.
Regarding bait choice, rubber jigs weighing 200–500 g work very well for halibut, cod, and coalfish. For more active fishing, spin fishing with 100–200 g jigs on shallow plateaus is both popular and effective, especially for halibut.
Bait fishing with baitfish is often used for targeted halibut fishing, while a jig is a safe bet for cod and coalfish. When fishing for redfish, rubber lures are the primary choice, and for plaice, simpler bottom rigs are used.
Bait choice and method are easily adapted to depth, weather, and species, and the great variety near the camp means you can always find the right type of fishing.

Facts about the country
Facts about the country
Norway is one of Europe's best countries for sport fishing. Here you'll find mighty fjords, deep seas, and rivers full of fish. You can catch halibut, cod, saithe, and salmon.
The country is easy to travel to and perfect for fishing trips.
How do you fish at Loppa Havsfiske?
How do you fish at Loppa Havsfiske?
Fishing at Loppa Havsfiske is conducted as boat-based sea fishing in the fjords and coastal waters of the Loppa Sea. The best fishing spots are close to the camp, which means short travel times and more efficient fishing.
Halibut are caught using both spin fishing on shallow plateaus, jigging, and bottom fishing with baitfish. Spin fishing with jigs is very popular and offers active fishing with hard bites.
Cod and coalfish are primarily caught with jigs or pilkers, while redfish are taken in deeper waters with rubber makk. Plaice are caught with simpler bottom rigs.
Fishing is adapted to weather, depth, and season, and thanks to the camp's sheltered location, there are almost always areas to fish. This makes Loppa an accessible and varied destination for sea fishing in Northern Norway.
What is the weather and climate like?
What is the weather and climate like?
The weather at Loppa Sea Fishing in Northern Norway is influenced by the Gulf Stream, resulting in a milder coastal climate than many expect at these latitudes.
During the fishing season, the weather varies, but in summer, conditions are often stable with cool temperatures and long daylight hours. Wind and sudden weather changes can occur, but the camp's location in the fjord means you are rarely completely windbound and there are usually sheltered areas to fish.
