About the fishing trip

Hosted Trip Sardinia: Black Bass with Emil Randemo

Sardinia may be best known for its beaches and turquoise waters, but for us sport anglers, there are waters farther inland that are every bit as exciting. Here, great black bass fishing awaits in surroundings quite different from those back home in Sweden. Over four days of fishing, we explore the lake in our own boats, try different lures and adapt our approach to the conditions.

On this Hosted Trip, Emil Randemo from Outside Travels joins us as our Swedish trip leader. We travel as a small group of fellow sport fishing enthusiasts, help each other out on the water and share experiences, lure tips and fishing stories in the evenings. It’s a great option if you want to spend a few fantastic days targeting black bass, meet other anglers and experience a different side of Sardinia.

Black bass in Sardinia: four days focused entirely on fishing

Black bass is a fish that can really get you hooked on new techniques and lures. One moment you’re working a Texas rig along a rocky edge, the next you see a bass follow a topwater lure all the way to the boat. That variety is what makes fishing for them so much fun. You’re constantly thinking about where the fish are holding, how they’re reacting, and what it takes to make them bite.

Join Emil Randemo in Sardinia

Emil Randemo is an angler who enjoys putting time and energy into trying new lures, developing his fishing skills and discovering new waters. He has fished in countries including the Netherlands, Italy, Serbia and Spain, and has also taken a fishing trip to Madagascar. He almost always brings his camera, and capturing the moments around the fishing is just as enjoyable as having a rod in his hands.

Black bass hold a special place in Emil’s heart. He has competed in the European Championship in black bass fishing and regularly competes in Italy. For him, it’s one of the most enjoyable types of fishing there is. It’s all about reading the water, choosing the right lure and constantly trying to figure out what the fish are looking for that day.

By day, Emil works at Outside Travels, where he gets to focus on what he loves most: sport fishing and fishing trips. In Sardinia, he joins trips as a tour leader and is always happy to share his experience. That might mean choosing the right lure, trying a new technique or simply chatting about fishing over a good meal. For Emil, it’s the combination of great fishing, new friendships and everything that happens between fishing sessions that makes a fishing trip truly successful.

Italian food and relaxing evenings after fishing

We stay at a four-star hotel in Sardinian style, with a pool and the chance to unwind after long days on the water. We have breakfast before fishing, take a packed lunch on the boat, and gather in the evening for dinner featuring local ingredients and Sardinian dishes.

It’s a welcome contrast to the fishing, with plenty of time for good food, relaxation and fishing talk.

Techniques and Lures for Black Bass

Texas rig & finesse

Texas rigs, wacky rigs and dropshot rigs are effective methods when fish are holding near rocks, timber and other structure. Here, precise bait placement and patience often make all the difference.

Topwater lures & reaction strikes

Poppers, walk-the-dog lures and other topwater baits are fun options when bass are feeding in shallow water. Strikes can come right beside the boat and be explosive.

Swimbaits & search baits

Swimbaits and other moving lures help us cover larger areas. We vary the speed, depth and presentation depending on how active the fish are.

Before your Hosted Trip to Sardinia

Is this trip suitable for me if I’ve never fished for black bass before?

Yes, you don’t need to have fished for black bass before. If you’ve spin-fished for species such as perch, pike or zander, you’ll recognize several of the techniques. At the same time, there’s plenty to discover, especially Texas rigs, wacky rigs and other methods used in modern bass fishing. Emil will be there throughout the trip to discuss gear, lure selection and tactics.

What fish can I catch in Sardinia?

We focus exclusively on largemouth bass, often called black bass. Many fish weigh between 0.5 and 2 kilos, but there is also a chance of catching larger specimens weighing over 3 kilos. Fishing takes place mainly in shallow water, where we look for fish around rocks, shoals and other structures.

Yes, all fishing on the trip is catch & release. We take a photo, let the bass recover in the water, and release it.

How do the boats work during the fishing days?

We have three 4-meter aluminum boats, equipped with dual electric motors and casting decks. We fish in pairs from the boats, making it easy to cover different areas and fish near structures. There’s plenty of room to cast and try different techniques throughout the day.

What does it mean to go on a Hosted Trip with Emil Randemo?

This means you travel with a Swedish tour leader from Outside Travels and other sport anglers who share your interest. Emil helps with preparations, practical questions, and coordination on site. It’s also a social trip where the group can discuss fishing, share experiences, and spend time together in the evenings.

Why are we going in September?

September is a great month for bass fishing in Sardinia, and it’s nice to extend the summer a little when autumn is starting to set in back home.

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?

Assume that you’ll bring your own rods, reels, and lures. If you’d like to check your own rods, you can add extra baggage. We’d be happy to help with a gear list and recommendations on what’s suitable for fishing in Sardinia.

Can I rent equipment?

Yes, it’s available as an option. Let us know when booking and we’ll arrange it.

Is there Wi-Fi on site?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available at the accommodation. The connection is good enough to send photos, check in with family and friends, and share the day’s catches in the chat. Don’t count on streaming or high speeds. If you want to ensure you stay fully connected, we recommend getting a local SIM or eSIM card; coverage in the area is generally good.
