The Andaman Islands have established themselves as one of the Indian Ocean's most exciting destinations for tropical sport fishing. Here, deep underwater mountains, flowing reef edges, and shallow plateaus meet, where predatory fish hunt aggressively. Each day offers new conditions, and every cast can result in a dream catch.
For Douglas Dahlberg, the Andaman Islands are a destination he gladly returns to.
"The Andaman Islands offer an exciting variety of fishing spots. One moment we're fishing along flowing edges next to deep rock faces, and the next we're standing over shallow flats where fish rise from 20 meters deep and explode on the bait. It's fast-paced fishing with a lot of action, and there's always a chance for really big fish."
Fishing is primarily done with popping and jigging for Giant Trevally and Dogtooth Tuna, but the area also offers excellent opportunities for Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Trevally, Grouper, and several other tropical predatory fish.
As a participant in a hosted trip, you travel with Douglas throughout the week. With many years of experience as a saltwater fishing guide, he is on hand to help with everything from equipment and bait selection to technique, tactics, and fighting the fish. This gives you the best conditions to develop as a sport fisherman and get the most out of your trip.
